■ Caching of article headers. You can mark a group of articles, and later decide you don’t want to download all of them now. You can disconnect from the servers and exit BNR, and when you restart BNR at some later time, BNR will start downloading those articles you marked for download. ■ Internal JPEG viewer. You can doubleclick on an existing filename, and BNR will display the image.

■ Checking for file existence before you start downloading an article. BNR finds existing files on your hard disk and even on your removable disks (using a special database on your hard disk) so that you don’t accidentally download a file you already have. ■ Finding an index file to decide whether to download an image. BNR can find and show an index file (for example, 1234hix1.jpg) when you select an article with a filename like 1234h12.jpg and click “Find index…”. ■ Plugin support. If BNR lacks a feature you find important, you can extend the capabilities of BNR by writing plugins.

■ Header download optimization. To save time using a slow connection (modem, for example) BNR downloads only the minimum amount of header data. You may even decide to leave out stuff like article authors, article dates, etc. The only required headers are the article subjects (so you know what the article contains), article sizes (so you know how long the download would take) and message IDs (so BNR can match the same article on several news servers).

  1. READ the user agreement – this “update” gives you embeded scripted ad content, collect data, stores third party content on your hard drive, and other you probably aren’t expected in an “upgrade”. Looks more like a Trojan Horse, in the original sense,

  2. I found no “cons” for this program.

That I didnt buy it sooner!

  4. Once in a while it has issues with user account control on vista and 7…no problem, just disconnect and reconnect and problem solved. 10 second inconvenience.

  5. Very easy to use

I would prefer a true trial version – the free version is scan only. If it finds malware, you have to purchase the program for $35 in order to have the program remove it.

In .avi files, the video and the audio sometimes go out of sync.

  8. As far as I am concerned there are no known ( to me) ‘Cons’ with the Ashampoo Office 2010 suite.

None that I can really think of, aside maybe from the fact that they update pretty regularly. It’s a good thing for the program, but just a bit of a hassle that I have to re-download the program every couple of days.

  10. I got this app with my Fujitsu scanner. How clever of them – no free updates!

I used to like this converter, but I am frustrated because the last two or three versions haven’t been working for me. I try to convert .avi to .mp4, but it gets stuck at 99%. Customer service still hasn’t responded to me, and I contacted them back in July.

1.) I couldn’t see ANY FILES in scan results, ONLY folders/subfolers, although found file types were listed throughout the scan. I selected 5 folders to download. They downloaded as blank folders, except one .exe file in a folder
2.) I called the 1-888# to ask if this was a bug. The Indian guy anxiously asked me 5 times if he could remotely login to my computer. I replied that he shouldn’t have to remote in to assess the problem. He then said he couldn’t help but advised me to call back in the morning. So I called back and the next Indian guy insisted on remoting in. He immediately went to “event viewer”–> “custom views”–> “admin events”, which listed several “warning” and “error” events and exclaimed “OH YOU HAVE SO MANY VIRUSES!” I called his BS b/c I’m an engineer and knew that these “events” WERE NOT VIRUSES. Event descriptions proved that most were from ADR (NOTE I tried 4 other data recovery sw before this and NONE made these “events”) and the rest were low HD space warnings.

  17. I am trying to use this program (either export to pdf (something in the export to pdf function prevents import into other vector editing programs), and export to svg hangs up. Any help out there?

  18. This game rides on the popularity of the Super Smash Bros. games by Nintendo. While Super Smash Flash is fairly fun, it’s successor, Super Smash Flash 2, by the same developer, is in the works. To check it out, as well as everything else by McLeod, check out his site.

  19. The only thing I don’t like about it is that the price is way way way to high for the program, it needs to be at least 200 or 350 not 999 that’s just insane.

Navigating within the input file is very limited. It also doesn’t have any apparent setting to make it extract clips without recompression.

A very helpful software to use in astrology for getting exact location angles for stars

  23. This NUDI is very useful and user friendly. I don’t know how many articles and books I have typed using this programme, which is very easy to type and adjusts into all major programmes. Best gift for us Kannadigas and for those who do a lot on computer in Kannada.

  24. Would have been nice to have a burner included, but whatever…I have 5 already.

how do i convert a diagram from autocad to msword

  26. I was listening to streaming video of a news event, and turned the sound off to make a business-related call. The sound suddenly came back on, and was probably audible to the person at the other end. I clicked on the sound icon to shut the sound off, and nothing happened.

My previous experience with Flash includes grayed-out controls, including the “stop” button, and also the ability to identify unwanted sites for the purpose of banning them. (I am not a parent but I think the issue of parental controls should be an issue here.)

  27. Not really a con, but a recommendation. Basic familiarity with DOS is helpful if you try the DOS version.

We need to set up a server in the US and in China to share large design CAD files. Does the Visa Versa Pro software provide reliable real time speed with transferring information between these two servers; even in mainland China?

Process Lasso is a continually evolving, living software project. It is highly effective at many things, and getting better with every passing day. It is not a ‘cure-all’ for every PC problem you have, nor does it claim to be. It does do what it says it does, and does it with almost no resource use (when properly set up).

some softwares are really slow & take much time to load.It irritates mostly.

  37. the interface is too big for a small program that just automates the power settings. It can’t do much else

  38. the new soft has installed in my computer

  39. When it started off, it was a giant heavy shield that blocked everything and slowed my computer down noticeably. After daily updates over months, it morphed into something more slimmed down and efficient.

I also cant stand the fact that this “free” version always seems broken. There is a yellow triangular symbol with an exclamation point that floats over the program icon in my system tray. Unless you get a pay version it stays there, but people who use my computer notice it and tell me I might need to scan or something. I have to explain the situation every time.

Lastly, It has a new annoying habit of telling me the database is out of date and needs to be updated every time I start my computer. There is an auto update setting… for the pay version….

Nonstop backup worked for a few days and then it stopped working. I deleted the backup and created a new one. It worked again for a few days and then it stopped working.

  42. the one downside for me was the price. this application does “just one task” and as such, i find the price expensive… BUT, i still recommend this due to its “cleansing” effect that you will get when your computer is cleaner and organised.

  43. bad :((

In the last few upgrades they have added system care package to the program. Even though it clearly states that it’s a trial, there’s no way to turn it off. I already have all the system utility’s I need. I don’t want to have to constantly close popup windows telling me that my computer need a whole list of fixes, that I know it doesn’t. Even if you go to your open programs icon and close it, it will pop up again. It’s aggravating.
